A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the practice of medicine without an annual registration
1-3 permit.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 156.008(a), Occupations Code, is amended
1-6 to read as follows:
1-7 (a) Practicing medicine after the expiration of the 30-day
1-8 grace period under Section 156.004 following expiration of
1-9 [without] an annual registration permit that has not been renewed
1-10 for the current year as provided by this subchapter has the same
1-11 effect as, and is subject to all penalties of, practicing medicine
1-12 without a license.
1-13 SECTION 2. (a) In accordance with Section 311.031(c),
1-14 Government Code, which gives effect to a substantive amendment
1-15 enacted by the same legislature that codifies the amended statute,
1-16 the text of Section 156.008(a), Government Code, as set out in
1-17 Section 1 of this Act, gives effect to changes made by Chapter
1-18 1262, Acts of the 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999.
1-19 (b) To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails over
1-20 another Act of the 77th Legislature, Regular Session, 2001,
1-21 relating to nonsubstantive additions and corrections in enacted
1-22 codes.
1-23 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-24 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2-1 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2-2 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2-3 Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
