                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to reimbursing counties for the cost of holding state
 1-3     parolees in county jails.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Article 104.002, Code of Criminal Procedure, is
 1-6     amended by adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows:
 1-7           (e)  The state shall reimburse a county at the rate of $40
 1-8     per day for each inmate or person described by Section
 1-9     508.282(a)(1)(A), Government Code, for each day after the 14th day
1-10     that the inmate or person is confined in a county jail.
1-11           (f)  For an inmate or person whose parole is revoked by the
1-12     state, the state shall reimburse a county at the rate of $40 per
1-13     day for each day after the third day from the date of the inmate's
1-14     or person's parole revocation hearing until the date the county
1-15     receives transfer papers from the pardons and paroles division.
1-16           SECTION 2.  Subsections (e) and (f), Article 104.002, Code of
1-17     Criminal Procedure, as added by this Act, apply only to the
1-18     confinement of an inmate or person on or after the effective date
1-19     of this Act.
1-20           SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
