                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the venue for a suit involving a violation of insurance
 1-3     law.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Amend Subchapter E, Chapter 21, Insurance Code,
 1-6     by adding Article 21.29 to read as follows:
 1-7           Article 21.29.  VENUE FOR ACTION INVOLVING VIOLATION OF
 1-8     INSURANCE LAW.  Notwithstanding any other law, any action alleging
 1-9     a violation of this code may be filed in a district court in Travis
1-10     County.
1-11           SECTION 2.  (a)  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
1-12           (b)  The change in law made by this Act applies only to a
1-13     suit filed on or after September 1, 2001.
