                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the reimbursement for health care services provided by
 1-3     hospitals who treat and provide medical care to crime victims
 1-4     pursuant to the Crime Victims' Compensation Act.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1. Article 56.42 of the Code of Criminal Procedure is
 1-7     amended by adding subsection (e) to read as follows:
 1-8           (e)  Notwithstanding the limits on compensation set forth in
 1-9     subsections (a) and (b) of this Article, a non-profit or county
1-10     hospital may receive up to $100,000 for health care services it
1-11     provides to a victim.
1-12           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
