 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to the jurisdiction of the 85th, 272nd, and 361st District
 1-9     Courts in Brazos County.
1-10           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11           SECTION 1.  Section 24.187, Government Code, is amended to
1-12     read as follows:
1-13           Sec. 24.187.  85TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY).
1-14     (a)  The 85th Judicial District is composed of Brazos County.
1-15           (b)  The 85th District Court has concurrent jurisdiction with
1-16     the statutory county courts of Brazos County in misdemeanor cases
1-17     as well as the jurisdiction prescribed by general law for district
1-18     courts.
1-19           (c)  The terms of the 85th District Court begin on the first
1-20     Mondays in April and October.
1-21           SECTION 2.  Section 24.449, Government Code, is amended to
1-22     read as follows:
1-23           Sec. 24.449.  272ND JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY).
1-24     (a)  The 272nd Judicial District is composed of Brazos County.
1-25           (b)  The 272nd District Court has concurrent jurisdiction
1-26     with the statutory county courts of Brazos County in misdemeanor
1-27     cases as well as the jurisdiction prescribed by general law for
1-28     district courts.
1-29           (c)  The terms of the 272nd District Court begin on the first
1-30     Mondays in April and October.
1-31           SECTION 3.  Section 24.506, Government Code, is amended to
1-32     read as follows:
1-33           Sec. 24.506.  361ST JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY).
1-34     (a)  The 361st Judicial District is composed of Brazos County.
1-35           (b)  The 361st District Court has concurrent [shall have and
1-36     exercise] jurisdiction with the statutory county courts of Brazos
1-37     County in misdemeanor cases as well as the jurisdiction prescribed
1-38     by general law for district courts.
1-39           (c)  The terms of the 361st District Court begin on the first
1-40     Mondays in April and October. 
1-41           SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
