                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to allowing counties to assess an application fee for tax
 1-3     abatements.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Chapter 312.002, Tax Code, is amended by adding
 1-6     Subsection (e) to read as follows:
 1-7           (e)  The governing body of a taxing unit may, in its
 1-8     guidelines, impose a reasonable fee, not to exceed $1,000, in
 1-9     connection with an application or request for tax abatement under
1-10     this chapter.
1-11           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
