1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to removing the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission from
1-9 the list of agencies considered to be health and human services
1-10 agencies generally subject to the authority of the Health and Human
1-11 Services Commission.
1-12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-13 SECTION 1. Subdivision (4), Section 531.001, Government
1-14 Code, as amended by Chapters 7 and 1460, Acts of the 76th
1-15 Legislature, Regular Session, 1999, is amended to read as follows:
1-16 (4) "Health and human services agencies" includes the:
1-17 (A) Interagency Council on Early Childhood
1-18 Intervention;
1-19 (B) Texas Department on Aging;
1-20 (C) Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse;
1-21 (D) Texas Commission for the Blind;
1-22 (E) Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of
1-23 Hearing;
1-24 (F) Texas Department of Health;
1-25 (G) Texas Department of Human Services;
1-26 (H) [Texas Juvenile Probation Commission;]
1-27 [(I)] Texas Department of Mental Health and
1-28 Mental Retardation;
1-29 (I) [(J)] Texas Rehabilitation Commission;
1-30 (J) [(K)] Department of Protective and
1-31 Regulatory Services; [and]
1-32 (K) [(L)] Children's Trust Fund of Texas
1-33 Council; and [.]
1-34 (L) Texas Health Care Information Council.
1-35 SECTION 2. Subsection (b), Section 2166.553, Government
1-36 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1-37 (b) In this section, "health and human services agency"
1-38 means the:
1-39 (1) Interagency Council on Early Childhood
1-40 Intervention Services;
1-41 (2) Texas Department on Aging;
1-42 (3) Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse;
1-43 (4) Texas Commission for the Blind;
1-44 (5) Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
1-45 [Impaired];
1-46 (6) Texas Department of Health;
1-47 (7) Texas Department of Human Services;
1-48 (8) [Texas Juvenile Probation Commission;]
1-49 [(9)] Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental
1-50 Retardation;
1-51 (9) [(10)] Texas Rehabilitation Commission; and
1-52 (10) [(11)] Department of Protective and Regulatory
1-53 Services.
1-54 SECTION 3. Subsection (b), Section 132.003, Human Resources
1-55 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1-56 (b) In this section, "health and human services agencies"
1-57 includes the:
1-58 (1) Interagency Council on Early Childhood
1-59 Intervention Services;
1-60 (2) Texas Department on Aging;
1-61 (3) Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse;
1-62 (4) Texas Commission for the Blind;

1-64 [Impaired];

2-10 repealed.
2-11 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
