                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to research excellence compensation for medical school
 1-3     faculty achieving national recognition.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  The legislature shall establish and provide
 1-6     funding for research excellence compensation for faculty at Texas
 1-7     schools of medicine who achieve recognition as members of the
 1-8     Institute of Medicine or the National Academy of Science or as
 1-9     Nobel Laureates.
1-10           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
