                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to requirements for the sale and use of electronic and
 1-3     mechanical bingo card-minders.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 2001.409(b), Occupations Code, is amended
 1-6     to read as follows:
 1-7           (b)  [Not more than 40 percent of the individuals attending a
 1-8     bingo occasion, based on the average of two previously submitted
 1-9     quarterly reports, may use electronic or mechanical card-minding
1-10     devices.  This subsection does not apply to pull-tab bingo.]  A
1-11     licensed authorized organization that offers electronic or
1-12     mechanical card-minding devices for use in bingo shall also offer
1-13     regular bingo cards for use in bingo.
1-14           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-15     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-16     provided by Secton 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-17     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-18     Act takes effect October 1, 2001.
