1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the boundaries of the Beeville Water Supply District.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1.  Section 2, Chapter 432, Acts of the 66th
 1-5     Legislature, Regular Session, 1979, is amended to read as follows:
 1-6           Sec. 2.  BOUNDARIES.  (a)  The district's boundaries shall be
 1-7     coterminous with the boundaries of the city of Beeville, Texas, on
 1-8     the date the district is created, but the board may expand the
 1-9     boundaries of the district by the annexation of additional land
1-10     under Section 8 of this Act [as of January 1, 1979].
1-11           (b)  If the city of Beeville annexes territory to include
1-12     more territory within its boundaries, the board may consider
1-13     whether the new territory should also be added to the territory of
1-14     the district and may:
1-15                 (1)  add the territory by a majority vote of the board
1-16     without following the annexation procedures under Section 8 of this
1-17     Act; or
1-18                 (2)  reject the addition of the new territory.
1-19           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-20     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-21     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-22     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-23     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
