1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to the final report and abolishment of the Spindletop
1-9 Centennial Celebration Commission.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 7, Chapter 569, Acts of
1-12 the 75th Legislature, Regular Session, 1997, is amended to read as
1-13 follows:
1-14 (a) As soon after May 1 [December 31], 2001, as the
1-15 commission determines that it has completed its work and has
1-16 satisfied its financial obligations, but not later than July 1,
1-17 2001 [March 31, 2002], the commission shall file with the secretary
1-18 of state a final report verified by a certified public accountant
1-19 that shows:
1-20 (1) the total amount of contributions received by the
1-21 commission during the commission's existence;
1-22 (2) the total amount of expenditures made by the
1-23 commission from nonappropriated funds; and
1-24 (3) the total amount of nonappropriated funds
1-25 remaining in the commission's possession.
1-26 SECTION 2. Section 9, Chapter 569, Acts of the 75th
1-27 Legislature, Regular Session, 1997, is amended to read as follows:
1-28 Sec. 9. EXPIRATION. This Act expires and the commission is
1-29 abolished July 1, 2001 [March 31, 2002].
1-30 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-31 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-32 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1-33 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-34 Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
