                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the creation, composition, and operation of certain
 1-3     district courts.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
 1-6     amended by adding Section 24.542 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 24.542. 397TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (COLLIN COUNTY). The
 1-8     397th Judicial District is composed of Collin County.
 1-9           SECTION 2.  (a)  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code,
1-10     is amended by adding Section 24.556 to read as follows:
1-11           Sec. 24.556.  412TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (FANNIN COUNTY). The
1-12     412th Judicial District is composed of Fannin County.
1-13           (b)  The heading to Section 24.106, Government Code, is
1-14     amended to read as follows:
1-15           Sec. 24.106.  6TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT ([FANNIN,] LAMAR[,] AND
1-16     RED RIVER COUNTIES).
1-17           (c)  Section 24.106(a), Government Code, is amended to read
1-18     as follows:
1-19           (a)  The 6th Judicial District is composed of [Fannin,]
1-20     Lamar[,] and Red River counties.
1-21           (d)  The heading to Section 24.482, Government Code, is
1-22     amended to read as follows:
1-23           Sec. 24.482.  336TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT ([FANNIN AND] GRAYSON
1-24     COUNTY [COUNTIES]).
 2-1           (e)  Section 24.482(a), Government Code, is amended to read
 2-2     as follows:
 2-3           (a)  The 336th Judicial District is composed of [Fannin and]
 2-4     Grayson County [counties].
 2-5           SECTION 3.  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
 2-6     amended by adding Section 24.557 to read as follows:
 2-7           Sec. 24.557.  413TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (JOHNSON AND SOMERVELL
 2-8     COUNTIES).  The 413th Judicial District is composed of Johnson and
 2-9     Somervell counties.
2-10           SECTION 4.  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
2-11     amended by adding Section 24.558 to read as follows:
2-12           Sec. 24.558. 414TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (NACOGDOCHES COUNTY).
2-13     The 414th Judicial District is composed of Nacogdoches County.
2-14           SECTION 5.  (a)  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code,
2-15     is amended by adding Section 24.559 to read as follows:
2-16           Sec. 24.559.  415TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (PARKER COUNTY).  The
2-17     415th Judicial District is composed of Parker County.
2-18           (b)  Section 32.184(a), Government Code, is amended to read
2-19     as follows:
2-20           (a)  The Commissioners Court of Parker County may budget for
2-21     and pay the judges [judge] of the 43rd and 415th judicial districts
2-22     [Judicial District] an annual salary not to exceed $7,800 for
2-23     performing judicial and administrative services.
2-24           (c)  Section 152.1901(b), Human Resources Code, is amended to
2-25     read as follows:
2-26           (b)  The [district court] judge of the 43rd Judicial District
2-27     is the chairman of the board.
 3-1           SECTION 6.  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
 3-2     amended by adding Section 24.560 to read as follows:
 3-3           Sec. 24.560. 416TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (TRAVIS COUNTY). (a)
 3-4     The 416th Judicial District is composed of Travis County.
 3-5           (b)  The 416th Judicial District shall give preference to
 3-6     civil cases.
 3-7           SECTION 7. (a)  The 397th, 412th, 413th, 414th, 415th, and
 3-8     416th judicial districts are created and this Act takes effect
 3-9     September 1, 2001.
3-10           (b)  The local administrative district judge shall transfer
3-11     all cases from Fannin County that are pending in the 6th District
3-12     Court or the 336th District Court on the effective date of this Act
3-13     to the 412th District Court.
3-14           (c)  When a case is transferred from one court to another as
3-15     provided by Subsection (b) of this section, all processes, writs,
3-16     bonds, recognizances, or other obligations issued from the
3-17     transferring court are returnable to the court to which the case is
3-18     transferred, as if originally issued by that court.  The obligees
3-19     in all bonds and recognizances taken in and for a court from which
3-20     a case is transferred, and all witnesses summoned to appear in a
3-21     court from which a case is transferred, are required to appear
3-22     before the court to which a case is transferred as if originally
3-23     required to appear before the court to which the transfer is made.
