                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the designation of a portion of certain roads as the
 1-3     Texas Independence Highway, the Juan N. Seguin Boulevard, and the
 1-4     Juan N. Seguin Memorial Interchange.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
 1-7     is amended by adding Section 225.046, 225.047, and 225.048 to read
 1-8     as follows:
 1-9           Sec. 225.046.  TEXAS INDEPENDENCE HIGHWAY.  (a)  State
1-10     Highway 225 between Loop 610 in Houston and State Highway 146 in La
1-11     Porte is designated as the Texas Independence Highway.
1-12           (b)  The department shall design and construct markers
1-13     indicating the highway number, the designation as the Texas
1-14     Independence Highway, and any other appropriate information.
1-15           (c)  The department shall erect a marker at each end of the
1-16     highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
1-17           Sec. 225.047.  JUAN N. SEGUIN BOULEVARD.  (a)  Park Road 1836
1-18     between State Highway 134 and the San Jacinto Battleground is
1-19     designated as the Juan N. Seguin Boulevard.
1-20           (b)  The department shall design and construct memorial
1-21     markers indicating the park road number, the designation as the
1-22     Juan N. Seguin Boulevard, and any other appropriate information.
1-23           (c)  The department shall erect a marker at each end of the
1-24     boulevard and at appropriate intermediate sites along the
1-25     boulevard.
 2-1           Sec. 225.048.  JUAN N. SEGUIN MEMORIAL INTERCHANGE.  (a)  The
 2-2     interchange between State Highway 225 and Loop 610 in Houston is
 2-3     designated as the Juan N. Seguin Memorial Interchange.
 2-4           (b)  The department shall design and construct memorial
 2-5     markers indicating the interchange number, the designation as the
 2-6     Juan N. Seguin Memorial Interchange, and any other appropriate
 2-7     information.
 2-8           (c)  The department shall erect a marker at one or more sites
 2-9     on the interchange and approaching the interchange in each
2-10     direction.
2-11           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2-12     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2-13     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
2-14     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2-15     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
