No. 4 2001S0109/1 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, It is a time-honored custom that the portrait of 1-2 each outgoing Governor of the State of Texas be hung in the Texas 1-3 Capitol along with those of previous Texas governors; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Governor George W. Bush, 46th Governor of the State 1-5 of Texas, resigned as governor after his election as President of 1-6 the United States; now, therefore, be it 1-7 RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, the House of 1-8 Representatives concurring, That the 77th Legislature direct that a 1-9 suitable portrait of Governor George W. Bush be placed in an 1-10 appropriate location in the Texas Capitol with the portraits of 1-11 other governors of Texas; the portrait and the charge for such 1-12 portrait may be made by an artist agreeable with Governor Bush, the 1-13 lieutenant governor, the Chairman of the Committee on 1-14 Administration of the Senate, the speaker of the house of 1-15 representatives, and the Chairman of the House Administration 1-16 Committee; before the portrait is accepted and placed by the State 1-17 Preservation Board, it shall have the approval of the lieutenant 1-18 governor, the Chairman of the Committee on Administration of the 1-19 Senate, the speaker of the house of representatives, and the 1-20 Chairman of the House Administration Committee; and, be it further 1-21 RESOLVED, That a sufficient sum of money be provided through 1-22 the Committee on Administration of the Senate and the House 1-23 Administration Committee of the House of Representatives to pay the 1-24 artist's charges for the portrait.
