No. 32 1-2 (In the Senate - Filed March 1, 2001; March 5, 2001, read 1-3 first time and referred to Committee on Intergovernmental 1-4 Relations; March 22, 2001, reported favorably by the following 1-5 vote: Yeas 7, Nays 0; March 22, 2001, sent to printer.) 1-6 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1-7 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing municipalities to 1-8 donate outdated or surplus firefighting equipment or supplies to 1-9 underdeveloped countries. 1-10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Article III, Texas Constitution, is amended by 1-12 adding Section 52h to read as follows: 1-13 Sec. 52h. A municipality may donate to an underdeveloped 1-14 country outdated or surplus equipment, supplies, or other materials 1-15 used in fighting fires. 1-16 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be 1-17 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 6, 2001. 1-18 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the 1-19 proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing 1-20 municipalities to donate outdated or surplus firefighting equipment 1-21 or supplies to underdeveloped countries." 1-22 * * * * *
