Bill not drafted by TLC or Senate E&E. 1-1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 1-2 proposing a constitutional amendment to enhance agricultural 1-3 production of grapes and promote tourism in Texas by granting the 1-4 right to sell and taste wine in a winery. 1-5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-6 SECTION 1. Section 20, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is 1-7 amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: 1-8 (d) The holder of a winery permit may sell and serve 1-9 Texas-made wine, or dispense free Texas-made wine, for consumption 1-10 on the winery premises, regardless of whether the winery is located 1-11 in an area in which a local restriction or prohibition on the 1-12 possession or sale of intoxicating liquors applies. 1-13 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be 1-14 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 6, 2001. 1-15 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the 1-16 proposition: "The constitutional amendment to enhance agricultural 1-17 production of grapes and promote tourism by granting the right to 1-18 sell and serve Texas wine on a winery premises."
