 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 19
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 1-4     commend Reverend Isaac Johnson, who has contributed immeasurably
 1-5     to the economic and spiritual growth of his native South Dallas
 1-6     community; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Reverend Johnson's fellow citizens of South Dallas
 1-8     are recognizing him for his dedication and his devotion to his
 1-9     community; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The enterprising 1963 graduate of Lincoln High
1-11     School began his business career in the late 1950s as a shoeshine
1-12     boy, organized a family delivery and moving business in the 1970s,
1-13     and was ordained by the Reverend George Gregory, Jr., in the 1980s;
1-14     and
1-15           WHEREAS, Inspirational and dedicated to helping others,
1-16     the beloved associate minister of Saint John Missionary Baptist
1-17     Church gained widespread attention with his "Coalition of Churches
1-18     in Prison Ministry," which seeks to regain the lives and souls of
1-19     those incarcerated in the criminal justice system; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Reverend Johnson's commitment to spreading the
1-21     word of God has become a beacon of light and source of hope
1-22     for all who come to him with their concerns; he gives generously
 2-1     of his time and abilities as a supporter of a Haiti mission
 2-2     school, worship leader for the South Dallas Nursing Home, and
 2-3     Pulpit Coordinator for Saint John Missionary Baptist Church; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, Supported in his spiritual calling by his beloved
 2-5     wife, Floristene Wilson Johnson, his six sons, his daughter, and
 2-6     his stepdaughter, this accomplished theologian has been truly
 2-7     blessed; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-9     77th Legislature, hereby join the citizens of South Dallas
2-10     in honoring Reverend Isaac Johnson for his fervent service to
2-11     his community and his church; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13     him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
