 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 1-4     citizens of Jeff Davis County in bidding farewell to a valued
 1-5     civic leader, Billie Weston, who is retiring from his position
 1-6     as county commissioner; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Billie was first elected to the office of
 1-8     commissioner in 1989 to fill an unexpired term, and he has
 1-9     remained on the court ever since; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Billie's impressive business acumen was a
1-11     valuable asset to the court, helping it make key finance
1-12     decisions; also, his in-depth knowledge of roads and road
1-13     equipment proved extremely useful to the court's efforts to
1-14     improve area thoroughfares; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Billie is a strong believer in community;
1-16     as a member of several local committees and the Far West Texas
1-17     County Judges and Commissioners Association, he has worked
1-18     diligently to promote community development in his sparsely
1-19     populated west Texas district; and
1-20           WHEREAS, For over a decade, Billie has served citizens of
 2-1     Jeff Davis County as a commissioner, carrying out his duties
 2-2     with consummate professionalism and true civic-mindedness; an
 2-3     exceptional public servant, he has made valuable contributions
 2-4     to both his district and the State of Texas at large; now,
 2-5     therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     77th Legislature, hereby recognize Billie Weston for his work
 2-8     as Jeff Davis County Commissioner and wish him best of luck
 2-9     in his retirement; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-11     him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
