1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 22 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly 1-4 congratulates Kathleen Marie Stuman on her accomplishment of 1-5 graduating from the Game Warden Academy; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Game wardens are a vital part of efforts in Texas 1-7 to preserve the natural beauty of its wildlife; their duties entail 1-8 everything from enforcing game and fish laws to performing rescue 1-9 missions in the wild; and 1-10 WHEREAS, More recently, game wardens have taken on new roles 1-11 in addition to their traditional duties; officials now serve as 1-12 educators, making presentations to schools and private groups about 1-13 wildlife conservation; and 1-14 WHEREAS, To become a game warden, cadets must complete a 1-15 six month training program in Austin, where the curriculum consists 1-16 of classroom instruction, physical training, skills training, and 1-17 academic tests; while attending the program, cadets must also 1-18 maintain an elite standard of physical fitness; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Graduates of the Game Warden Academy leave the 1-20 institution as licensed peace officers, sobriety practitioners, 1-21 marine safety officers, and boater, hunter, and angler instructors; 1-22 and 2-1 WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio, 2-2 Kathleen entered the Game Warden Academy on July 1, 2000, and she 2-3 graduates on January 17, 2001; and 2-4 WHEREAS, After spending almost seven months in training, 2-5 Kathleen has mastered the demanding curriculum of the Game Warden 2-6 Academy; she now has the knowledge and skills necessary to protect 2-7 the parks and wildlife of Texas; in carrying out her duties as a 2-8 game warden in Jim Hogg County, she performs a vital service for 2-9 the citizens of this great state; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-11 77th Legislature, hereby congratulate Kathleen Marie Stuman on 2-12 the occasion of her graduation from the Game Warden Academy and 2-13 wish her best of luck in her new position in Jim Hogg County; and, 2-14 be it further 2-15 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-16 as an expression of high esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-17 Madla 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 President of the Senate 2-20 I hereby certify that the above 2-21 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-22 on January 16, 2001. 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 Secretary of the Senate 2-25 ______________________________________ 2-26 Member, Texas Senate
