 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 29
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate and the people of Houston will
 1-4     greatly miss the wisdom and expertise of Walter Clyde Hunt,
 1-5     who retired from his position with the Gulf Coast Community
 1-6     Service Association of Houston; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, An ardent worker for the association since 1967,
 1-8     Mr. Hunt's retirement brings the end of an era; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Mr. Hunt was feted with a retirement roast and
1-10     toast brunch on December 15, 2000, by his friends and colleagues;
1-11     and
1-12           WHEREAS, A 1964 graduate of Texas Southern University with
1-13     a bachelor of science degree in physical education and health
1-14     education, Walter Hunt earned his master of science degree in
1-15     physical education in 1970; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Mr. Hunt served with exemplary devotion as the
1-17     liasion between the Houston Independent School District and
1-18     the Gulf Coast Community Service Association, provided feedback
1-19     and made recommendations for staff development and training, and
1-20     ensured that communication and information passed between the
1-21     central office and the after-school program sites; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Walter Hunt earned Rural Housing Coordinator
 2-1     Certification in 1970, Safety Management Certification in 1973,
 2-2     and Housing Counseling Certification in 1978; he served as a
 2-3     vice president of the National Federation of Housing Council
 2-4     Association and was one of the five founders of the Texas
 2-5     Federation of Housing Counseling, Incorporated; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, Walter Hunt has enhanced the quality of education
 2-7     in Houston and the State of Texas in countless ways, and he is
 2-8     indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
 2-9           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-10     77th Legislature, hereby commend Walter Clyde Hunt on his
2-11     outstanding service to the Gulf Coast Community Service
2-12     Association and extend warmest best wishes for a happy and
2-13     rewarding retirement; and, be it further
2-14           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-15     Mr. Hunt as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
