 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 31
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 1-4     recognize Convoy of Hope on the occasion of Convoy of Hope Day,
 1-5     which is being held at Fair Park in Dallas on March 10, 2001; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Convoy of Hope is a nonprofit organization that was
 1-7     founded to assist churches in reaching out to those people in the
 1-8     community who are lost, hurt, or needy; its members work with local
 1-9     organizations and churches to feed the hungry and provide medical
1-10     screening and personal support to area citizens; and
1-11           WHEREAS, A transdenominational ministry, Convoy of Hope hosts
1-12     outreach events in cities across America, and Convoy of Hope Day
1-13     in Dallas will be one of the largest of these events and will help
1-14     thousands of inner-city families; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Working poor families and individuals in need will
1-16     be invited to the event as "guests of honor"; guests will receive
1-17     free groceries, refreshments, medical and dental care, haircuts,
1-18     and job placement advice; live entertainment and pony rides and
1-19     games for the children will be provided; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Churches, businesses, and community organizations
 2-1     are joining Convoy of Hope for this one-day event, and together,
 2-2     they will restore hope and vision to inner-city residents; now,
 2-3     therefore, be it
 2-4           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-5     77th Legislature, hereby commend Convoy of Hope on its
 2-6     humanitarian goals and many accomplishments and extend best
 2-7     wishes to its members for a joyous and successful Convoy of
 2-8     Hope Day; and, be it further
 2-9           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-10     Convoy of Hope as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
