 1-5                              Dr. Warren Morgan
 1-6           WHEREAS, The death of Dr. Warren Morgan on January 12, 2001,
 1-7     at the age of 57, has brought a great loss to the many relatives
 1-8     and friends of this esteemed educator and civic leader; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Vice president for diversity and economic
1-10     opportunity of DART, Dr. Morgan was a very important adviser
1-11     for an entire host of issues affecting DART and its future; and
1-12           WHEREAS, A dynamic and versatile individual, Dr. Morgan was
1-13     also blessed with exceptional administrative skills, and he was
1-14     dedicated to the excellence that was the hallmark of endeavors
1-15     as president of Paul Quinn College, dean of students at Benedict
1-16     College, and vice president of student affairs at Florida A&M
1-17     University; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Respected by all of his colleagues, Dr. Morgan was
1-19     considered a benevolent and cohesive force; he believed his mission
1-20     was bringing together people from every part of DART and every part
1-21     of the region; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, A well-known civil rights advocate, he believed
 2-2     that everyone had the right to equal justice and opportunity; he
 2-3     felt that his activities in the educational area and in civil
 2-4     rights were his contribution to his community and to his state;
 2-5     he will be sorely missed; now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     77th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
 2-8     members of the family of Dr. Warren Morgan:  his wife,
 2-9     DeJoyce; and his son, Warren Gerard; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-11     his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
2-12     Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
2-13     it do so in memory of Dr. Warren Morgan.
