1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 38 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join 1-4 the administration, faculty, and students of William B. Travis 1-5 High School of Austin, Texas, in recognizing nine of the school's 1-6 graduating African-American seniors; and 1-7 WHEREAS, February of 2001 is being celebrated by citizens 1-8 across the country as Black History Month, and William B. Travis 1-9 High School is recognizing these students for their superior 1-10 academic performance as part of its Black History Month 1-11 celebration; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Throughout the month, the high school will 1-13 commemorate the heritage of African-Americans and pay tribute 1-14 to an ethnic group whose members have contributed in countless 1-15 ways to our country's enrichment; and 1-16 WHEREAS, In the tradition of recognizing the outstanding 1-17 accomplishments of individuals of African-American heritage 1-18 during the month of February, the school is honoring Tony Brown, 1-19 Charles Dobbins, Deneka Dove, Tony Dryden, Orentha Harris, 1-20 Lisa Hayes, Jorail Jermany, Hettie More, and Renee Williams for 2-1 their scholarly achievements; and 2-2 WHEREAS, These students are exceptionally talented and 2-3 consistently strive for excellence in all of their endeavors, 2-4 and Black History Month is an appropriate time to pay tribute 2-5 to them for their hard work and many accomplishments; now, 2-6 therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 77th Legislature, hereby laud these nine graduating 2-9 African-American seniors of William B.
