1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 68 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud 1-4 to join the Texas Agricultural Extension Service and 1-5 The Texas A&M University System in recognizing May Tran, 1-6 who was awarded the President's Student Service Gold Award 1-7 on November 14, 2000, during the 2000 Youth Leadership Gala; 1-8 and 1-9 WHEREAS, This prestigious award is presented to young 1-10 volunteers who have exhibited an extraordinary willingness to 1-11 make a difference in the lives of others through community 1-12 service; and 1-13 WHEREAS, A participant in the 1999-2000 Empowering Teen 1-14 Leaders program, May and her 12 coalition members focused on 1-15 individual artistic achievements by assisting "Diverseworks" 1-16 with its promotion of contemporary artists; and 1-17 WHEREAS, An exemplary young woman with a promising future, 1-18 May demonstrated an overwhelming desire to use her talents and 1-19 her resources to help others, and in so doing she has brought 1-20 honor to herself, her family, and her community; and 1-21 WHEREAS, May has made a lasting contribution to her 1-22 community through her generosity of spirit, and her worthy 2-1 accomplishments should be an inspiration for students of all 2-2 ages and a source of pride for all Texans; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 77th Legislature, hereby commend May Tran for being selected 2-5 a recipient of the President's Student Service Gold Award; and, 2-6 be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-8 May as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-9 Ellis 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the above 2-13 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-14 on January 22, 2001. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
