 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 102
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate takes pride in recognizing
 1-4     Willie Mae Coleman, who is one of the outstanding women selected
 1-5     by the Epsilon Chapter of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, as
 1-6     an Unsung Hero; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, The Second Unsung Heroes Luncheon is being held on
 1-8     February 3, 2001, in Dallas to recognize noteworthy persons in
 1-9     the Metroplex area whose accomplishments have gone unnoticed; and
1-10           WHEREAS, A business and professional organization with
1-11     chapters in the United States and the United States Virgin Islands,
1-12     Eta Phi Beta was chartered in 1942 to encourage and support higher
1-13     scholastic standards, personal growth, career awareness, and
1-14     opportunities for community service; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, she moved with her
1-16     family to Dallas in 1937 and is married to J. D. Coleman; the
1-17     mother of six and grandmother of 17, Mrs. Coleman is a member of
1-18     United Methodist Women, serves as National Treasurer of the
1-19     Washington/Lincoln Alumni Association, is on the advisory board
1-20     of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and
1-21     Visual Arts, and is president of the Bertrand Neighborhood
1-22     Association; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Coleman is a member of
 2-2     Saint Luke Community United Methodist Church; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, The winners of this award are notable citizens in
 2-4     their communities, and their activities have earned them the
 2-5     respect and admiration of their colleagues; now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     77th Legislature, hereby commend and congratulate
 2-8     Willie Mae Coleman on her selection as one of the Unsung
 2-9     Heroes by the Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and wish
2-10     her well in the future; and, be it further
2-11           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-12     her as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate.
