 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 107
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate takes pride in recognizing
 1-4     Ester Davis, who is one of the outstanding women selected by
 1-5     the Epsilon Chapter of the Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated,
 1-6     as an Unsung Hero; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, The Second Unsung Heroes Luncheon is being held
 1-8     on February 3, 2001, in Dallas to recognize noteworthy persons in
 1-9     the Metroplex area whose accomplishments have gone unnoticed; and
1-10           WHEREAS, A business and professional organization with
1-11     chapters in the United States and the United States Virgin Islands,
1-12     Eta Phi Beta was chartered in 1942 to encourage and support higher
1-13     scholastic standards, personal growth, career awareness, and
1-14     opportunities for community service; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Born in Montgomery County, Texas, in 1944, Ester
1-16     is a woman who possesses a strong business acumen and a great
1-17     entrepreneurial spirit; she worked for Eastman Kodak Company from
1-18     1972 to 1996 and is the founder of the Lace Glove Modeling and
1-19     Etiquette Program; she is the President of the Ester Davis Catalog
1-20     and the Ester Davis Diary Planner, and she works as a professional
1-21     event planner; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Ester is a person who believes in giving back to
1-23     her community, and she accomplishes this through her affiliation
 2-1     with several organizations; she is the host and producer of the
 2-2     "Ester Davis Too Cable Television Show," vice president of
 2-3     African American Women Entrepreneurs, and a member of the
 2-4     National Council of Negro Women, Incorporated; she also supports
 2-5     her community through her 30 plus years of attendance at Greater
 2-6     New Zion Baptist Church; and
 2-7           WHEREAS, A woman of diverse talents and interests who has
 2-8     worked hard for many years to achieve her dreams, Ester has been
 2-9     honored previously by many organizations for her outstanding
2-10     contributions as a business and civic leader; and
2-11           WHEREAS, Women who have earned the title of Unsung Hero
2-12     are notable citizens in their communities; Ester's activities have
2-13     earned her the respect and admiration of a great many people, and
2-14     she is richly deserving of this honor; now, therefore, be it
2-15           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-16     77th Legislature, hereby commend and congratulate Ester Davis
2-17     on her selection as one of the Unsung Heroes by the Eta Phi Beta
2-18     Sorority, Incorporated, and wish her well in the future; and,
2-19     be it further
2-20           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-21     Ester Davis as an expression of highest regard from the
2-22     Texas Senate.
