 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 134
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas is pleased to recognize
 1-4     McCamey, a great Texas city which is making its comeback; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The slowing of the oil industry in Texas
 1-6     adversely affected McCamey, causing the local economy to shrink
 1-7     and forcing many residents to leave; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Now, however, the City of McCamey is experiencing
 1-9     an era of rejuvenation; several corporations have found a new,
1-10     abundant source of energy to harness, and companies like ESI West
1-11     Texas Wind Energy, Incorporated, Cielo Wind Power Company, and
1-12     Enron are constructing wind farms in areas close to McCamey; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Wind energy offers exceptional benefits for
1-14     citizens throughout Texas; environmentally sound, wind power
1-15     yields no harmful byproducts, such as those causing acid rain,
1-16     smog, and global warming; wind energy is also inexhaustible and
1-17     cost-effective; and
1-18           WHEREAS, The continued construction of wind energy plants
1-19     bodes well for citizens of McCamey, as the infusion of business
1-20     dollars into the city's economy promises a return to prosperity
 2-1     and growth; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Citizens of McCamey are proud to be on the cutting
 2-3     edge of energy technology; after many difficult years, McCamey
 2-4     residents now see a bright future for their city in wind energy;
 2-5     now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     77th Legislature, hereby proclaim McCamey, Texas, "Wind Energy
 2-8     Capital of Texas" and extend hearty congratulations to McCamey
 2-9     residents on this new chapter in their city's history; and, be
2-10     it further
2-11           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
2-12     for the citizens of McCamey as an expression of esteem from the
2-13     Texas Senate.
