 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased and
 1-4     proud to welcome the participants of Leadership Corpus Christi
 1-5     to the State Capitol on February 8, 2001; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Leadership Corpus Christi was established in
 1-7     1972 by the Chamber of Commerce and is the third oldest community
 1-8     leadership program in the country; it is an annual series of
 1-9     educational programs that focus on significant community
1-10     information and issues; the members of the Steering Committee
1-11     are Michael Briones, Ken Trevino, Trudie Brunner, Sylvia Ford,
1-12     Joe Guerra, Michael Harrison, Tim Legamora, Pat Rousseau, and
1-13     John Valls; and
1-14           WHEREAS, This illustrious program has as its purpose
1-15     advancing positive, progressive, and orderly business and
1-16     professional development in the Corpus Christi area using a
1-17     twofold approach:  it seeks to educate potential and existing
1-18     business and community leaders about the diverse realities,
1-19     personalities, and challenges in the city; and it seeks to
1-20     develop and enhance visionary leadership skills through in-depth
1-21     training; the participants of the year's Leadership Corpus Christi
1-22     are Veronica R. Adams, Laura A. Aguinaga, Cliff E. Atnip,
 2-1     Mark A. Avelar, Darron R. Bergstrom, David Berlanga,
 2-2     Dawn S. Bissell, Rebecca A. Bradford, Bethany E. Bragg,
 2-3     Rose Cantu, Louis Cervantes, Haysam D. Dawod, Patricia L. Garcia,
 2-4     Diane LaRue, Gordon D. Laws, Edward Martinez, Maria Martinez,
 2-5     Robert McCarty, Alan T. McClain, Pamela McGonagill, Paul McKimmy,
 2-6     Veronica Moreno, Pamela Mosley, Dana K. Pickett, Daiquiri L. Richard,
 2-7     Celeste Sawhook, Eduardo J. Trillos, Rosa Valdez, Donald D. Vaughn,
 2-8     and Wendy L. Walker; and
 2-9           WHEREAS, While informing the participants about Corpus Christi's
2-10     history, government, social issues, need, and opportunities and the
2-11     existing processes for dealing with them, the program gives them an
2-12     opportunity to establish dialogue with each other and current
2-13     leaders of Corpus Christi; the participants are further encouraged
2-14     to actively join in future enterprises which enhance the growth and
2-15     betterment of the Corpus Christi area; and
2-16           WHEREAS, More than 900 alumni from Leadership Corpus Christi
2-17     have graduated since its establishment; graduates have assumed
2-18     active roles in the community and have become an integral part
2-19     of numerous civic, business, and professional organizations; this
2-20     extremely successful program truly deserves legislative recognition;
2-21     now, therefore, be it
2-22           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-23     77th Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the success of
2-24     Leadership Corpus Christi and welcome its new associates to
 3-1     the State Capitol; and, be it further
 3-2           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 3-3     Leadership Corpus Christi as an expression of the highest
 3-4     esteem of the Texas Senate.
