1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 201 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes 1-4 great pleasure in welcoming to Austin the students from 1-5 Buenos Aires, Argentina, who are participating in the Fundacion 1-6 Universitaria del Rio de la Plata program at the Institute of Latin 1-7 American Studies at The University of Texas at Austin; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A private, nonprofit institution created in 1970 by 1-9 a group of young university graduates, the Fundacion Universitaria 1-10 del Rio de la Plata is directed toward preparing graduate students 1-11 of great promise for national leadership and toward widening their 1-12 perspective on national and international affairs; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The activities of Fundacion Universitaria del 1-14 Rio de la Plata have been generously supported by private 1-15 corporations and institutions, including American firms who 1-16 have interests in Argentina; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Since its establishment, Fundacion Universitaria 1-18 del Rio de la Plata has organized seminars in the United States 1-19 that have provided hundreds of young university students and 1-20 graduates from all over Argentina with the opportunity to further 1-21 their knowledge and insight; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The 16 outstanding students who are participating 1-23 in the 2001 program at the Institute of Latin American Studies at 2-1 The University of Texas at Austin have been selected on the basis 2-2 of their potential as young leaders to be members of the Fundacion 2-3 Universitaria del Rio de la Plata, thus allowing them to direct 2-4 their abilities toward better community service; and 2-5 WHEREAS, It is a distinct honor for the Texas Senate to 2-6 recognize these young men and women who will become the future 2-7 leaders of their country: group leader Pablo Luis Valles and group 2-8 members Marcelo Ruben Britos, Fernando Galetto, Mariano Heller, 2-9 Matias Novoa Haidar, Florencia Primatesta, Angel Augusto Sarmiento, 2-10 Ruben Octavio Villan, Cristian Francos, Sergio Cokljat, 2-11 Lia Giardinieri, Javier Mirande, Maria Florencia Polimeni, 2-12 Marisa Ramos Meneghetti, Gisela Scaglia, and Andres Pedro Zenarruza; 2-13 now, therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-15 77th Legislature, hereby commend these dedicated individuals 2-16 who are broadening their education in order to better understand 2-17 the problems of their society and to prepare themselves for their 2-18 roles as national leaders; and, be it further 2-19 RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be presented to 2-20 them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-21 Barrientos 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 President of the Senate 2-24 I hereby certify that the above 2-25 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-26 on February 6, 2001. 2-27 ______________________________________ 2-28 Secretary of the Senate 2-29 ______________________________________ 2-30 Member, Texas Senate
