 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 233
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud
 1-4     to recognize Reverend Raymond Ellis Scott, who is retiring
 1-5     February 28, 2001, after 31 years of dedicated public service
 1-6     with the United States Postal Service; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, The varied and worthwhile activities of this
 1-8     distinguished gentleman have contributed greatly to the
 1-9     progressive growth of the postal service and his community; and
1-10           WHEREAS, A native son of Texas, Raymond Scott was born in
1-11     Taylor on February 23, 1946, to the late Robert Scott, Sr., and
1-12     Clara Houston Scott; instilled with devotion, dedication, and
1-13     compassion, he gives generously of his time and abilities to
1-14     the betterment of his fellowman; and
1-15           WHEREAS, For 18 years he ministered to the needs of his
1-16     congregation at Goodwill Baptist Church and worked diligently
1-17     to improve conditions for the residents of East Austin; he served
1-18     with distinction as a member of the board of House of Hope; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Supported and strengthened throughout his career by
1-20     his beloved wife of 28 years, Barbara, and his daughter, Kimberly,
 2-1     Reverend Scott has been truly blessed; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, The State of Texas and the United States Postal
 2-3     Service have benefitted enormously from the contributions and
 2-4     expertise of this illustrious public servant who has discharged
 2-5     his duties in an exemplary and conscientious manner; now,
 2-6     therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-8     77th Legislature, hereby commend Raymond Ellis Scott for his
 2-9     31 years of outstanding service with the United States Postal
2-10     Service and for his contributions to his community; and, be it
2-11     further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13     him as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
