 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 246
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-4     recognize one of the state's great historical treasures, the
 1-5     Admiral Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Established to honor revered Fleet Admiral
 1-7     Chester W. Nimitz, who served as commander-in-chief of the
 1-8     Pacific theater during World War II, the Admiral Nimitz Museum
 1-9     presents the story of this distinguished leader's youth in
1-10     Fredericksburg, early career in the United States Navy, wartime
1-11     service, and continued postwar service; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The Admiral Nimitz Museum is located in a hotel
1-13     established by his grandfather for horse-bound travelers passing
1-14     through Fredericksburg; a fitting tribute to a highly esteemed
1-15     World War II leader, the museum also preserves the local history
1-16     and small-town charm of mid-19th century Fredericksburg; and
1-17           WHEREAS, The Admiral Nimitz Museum offers its 130,000 annual
1-18     visitors insightful, didactic exhibits which, in addition to
1-19     honoring Admiral Nimitz, portray a critical event in modern
1-20     history and a world in transition; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Texas has long been proud to be the home state of
1-22     Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, and it is likewise proud of
1-23     the Fredericksburg museum established in his honor; the
 2-1     Admiral Nimitz Museum will serve generations to come, helping
 2-2     them remember an esteemed Texas leader and the sacrifice and
 2-3     determination of the men who fought to defend their nation
 2-4     in World War II; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-6     77th Legislature, hereby recognize the Admiral Nimitz Museum
 2-7     in Fredericksburg, Texas, for its outstanding work to honor
 2-8     Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz and to preserve the history
 2-9     of the United States and Texas; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-11     the Admiral Nimitz Museum as an expression of high regard from
2-12     the Texas Senate.
