 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 277
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-4     recognize Girl Scout Brigette Allen, of the El Camino Council,
 1-5     who has served in the Girl Scout Legislative Page Program at the
 1-6     Texas Capitol in February, 2001; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Mrs. Betty King, Secretary of the Senate,
 1-8     proposed the creation of the Girl Scout Legislative Page Program,
 1-9     which began in 1995 during the 74th Legislature; every succeeding
1-10     legislative session has featured a Girl Scout Legislative Page
1-11     Program; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Girl Scouts of America seeks to give its
1-13     participants learning experiences which promote the development
1-14     of strong leadership skills and civic responsibility; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Knowing that young women who are influenced by
1-16     scouting will one day be managing corporations, leading the
1-17     country, and raising the children of the future, the role that
1-18     Girl Scouts play is a vital one that equips young women for the
1-19     future; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Girl Scouts who will be participating in
 2-1     Legislative Page Week for the 77th Legislature are among a
 2-2     privileged group of young women; their time at the Capitol will
 2-3     encourage this young group of women to pursue leadership positions
 2-4     in local and state government in the years to come; now, therefore,
 2-5     be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     77th Legislature, hereby commend Girl Scout Brigette Allen
 2-8     on being chosen to participate in the Girl Scout Legislative
 2-9     Page Program for 2001 and congratulate her on a job well done;
2-10     and, be it further
2-11           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-12     Girl Scout Allen as an expression of high regard from the
2-13     Texas Senate.
