1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 284 1-3 WHEREAS, For 92 years the 4-H Youth Development Program 1-4 of the Texas Agricultural Extension Service has provided 1-5 invaluable experience-based education to youth across the 1-6 Lone Star State; and 1-7 WHEREAS, This admirable program, which seeks to create a 1-8 learning experience that is stimulating and satisfying to all 1-9 aspects of a child's nature, also helps young Texans to acquire 1-10 knowledge, develop life skills, and form attitudes that will 1-11 enable them to become self-directed and productive members of 1-12 society; and 1-13 WHEREAS, With over one million participants ranging in 1-14 age from eight to 19, the 4-H program boasts a membership that 1-15 resides in urban, suburban, and rural communities, hails from 1-16 diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, and is truly a 1-17 representative cross-section of the state; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The extraordinary success of the 4-H program 1-19 owes much to the service of its more than 55,000 volunteers, 1-20 who have given generously of their time, talents, energies, 2-1 and resources to benefit Texas youth; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history, the 4-H program 2-3 has helped develop young Texans into role models by providing 2-4 activities that build character and instill strong values, and 2-5 the organization is indeed worthy of special legislative 2-6 recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 77th Legislature, hereby recognize February 27, 2001, as 4-H Day 2-9 in Texas and encourage its observance in communities across the 2-10 state. 2-11 Barrientos 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 President of the Senate 2-14 I hereby certify that the above 2-15 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-16 on February 19, 2001. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Secretary of the Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
