1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 299 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join 1-4 the residents of Tarrant County and the Coalition of Tarrant County 1-5 Chambers of Commerce in celebrating Tarrant County Day at the State 1-6 Capitol on February 21 and 22, 2001; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Tarrant County was created in 1849 and named 1-8 for General Edward H. Tarrant; the fourth most populous county in 1-9 Texas, it is home to the headquarters of such corporate giants as 1-10 Radio Shack, American Airlines, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and 1-11 Pier 1; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Located in North Central Texas on the 1-13 Grand Prairie and Blackland Prairies, Tarrant County is a 1-14 popular area for vacationing, and today, the flavor of the 1-15 Old West is still inspiring in the county's ranch lands, 1-16 museums, art, and recreational centers; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The county is home to some of the state's most 1-18 outstanding cultural attractions, including the Amon G. Carter 1-19 Museum, the Kimbell Art Museum, and the Fort Worth Museum of 1-20 Science and History; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Located in Fort Worth, the county seat, the 2-1 Amon G. Carter Museum contains a fabulous collection of western 2-2 art featuring permanent collections of Frederic Remington and 2-3 Charles M. Russell; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Famous for its tourism centers such as the 2-5 Fort Worth Stockyards and the nationally known Six Flags Over 2-6 Texas, Tarrant County is often referred to as "Where the West 2-7 Begins"; and 2-8 WHEREAS, The county is flourishing economically and owes 2-9 much of its stability to the leadership provided by the Coalition 2-10 of Tarrant County Chambers of Commerce; the coalition represents 2-11 more than 7,500 business organizations; and 2-12 WHEREAS, The coalition brings together 23 chambers of 2-13 commerce from throughout Tarrant County to support public policy 2-14 initiatives that meet the needs of employers, employees, clients, 2-15 and customers; and 2-16 WHEREAS, Noted for its many contributions to the overall 2-17 quality of life in Tarrant County, the coalition builds productive 2-18 partnerships between the business community and local, state, and 2-19 federal governments to provide for positive growth in business 2-20 development; and 2-21 WHEREAS, The members of the Coalition of Tarrant County 2-22 Chambers of Commerce and the residents of Tarrant County deserve 2-23 credit for maintaining the county's vitality and for preserving 3-1 its many amenities in the face of urban growth and industrial 3-2 development; now, therefore, be it 3-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 3-4 77th Legislature, hereby commend the people of Tarrant County on 3-5 their achievements and their contributions to our state and extend 3-6 best wishes to them for a joyous Tarrant County Day; and, be it 3-7 further 3-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 3-9 residents of Tarrant County and the Coalition of Tarrant County 3-10 Chambers of Commerce as an expression of esteem from the 3-11 Texas Senate. 3-12 Nelson, Harris, Moncrief, 3-13 Sibley, West 3-14 ________________________________ ________________________________ 3-15 Member, Texas Senate Member, Texas Senate 3-16 ________________________________ ________________________________ 3-17 Member, Texas Senate Member, Texas Senate 3-18 ________________________________ 3-19 Member, Texas Senate 3-20 ________________________________ 3-21 President of the Senate 3-22 I hereby certify that the 3-23 above Resolution was adopted by 3-24 the Senate on February 20, 2001. 3-25 ________________________________ 3-26 Secretary of the Senate
