1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 306 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Virginia Crump 1-6 WHEREAS, The Texas Senate joins the citizens of 1-7 China Spring in mourning the loss of Virginia Crump, who died 1-8 on January 20, 2001, at the age of 76; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Born September 12, 1924, in Smithville, Virginia 1-10 moved to Bastrop as a young child, and she was educated there; 1-11 and 1-12 WHEREAS, Virginia moved to Waco to attend Baylor University; 1-13 she graduated from the university, and she married Steve Crump on 1-14 October 27, 1947, in Waco; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Devoted to her alma mater, Mrs. Crump retired as 1-16 Dean of Students of Baylor University after 36 years of service; 1-17 and 1-18 WHEREAS, While she was at Baylor, Mrs. Crump participated 1-19 in the Leakey Leadership Lab, was an advisor to the Baylor Student 1-20 Congress, and was an honorary member of the Baylor Chamber of 1-21 Commerce; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Virginia Crump helped to establish national 2-1 societies and the Mortar Board Chapter at Baylor; she loved 2-2 the university and affected many lives in a positive way; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Virginia is remembered for the affection, 2-4 confidence, and loyalty she inspired in those with whom she 2-5 was associated; and 2-6 WHEREAS, A respected and beloved member of the China Spring 2-7 community, Virginia Crump will be remembered for her devotion 2-8 to her family, friends, profession, and community; she leaves 2-9 a legacy of compassion and commitment which will be cherished 2-10 by those who knew and loved her; now, therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-12 77th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-13 members of her family: her husband, Steve Crump; her sisters, 2-14 Dot McCreary and Shirley Ray; and her brother, Bob Dodson; and, 2-15 be it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-17 for the loved ones of Virginia Crump, and that when the Senate 2-18 adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Virginia Crump. 2-19 Sibley 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 President of the Senate 2-22 I hereby certify that the above 2-23 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-24 on February 20, 2001, by a rising vote. 2-25 ______________________________________ 2-26 Secretary of the Senate 2-27 ______________________________________ 2-28 Member, Texas Senate
