 1-5                            Daniel Z. Rivas, Sr.
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
 1-7     of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Daniel Z. Rivas, Sr., who
 1-8     died February 11, 2001, at age 73; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,
1-10     Daniel Rivas was respected in the community for his many
1-11     accomplishments; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Mr. Rivas served his country faithfully as a
1-13     technical sergeant in the United States Air Force; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Daniel Rivas attended Pollard Memorial United
1-15     Methodist Church, and he was respected by others as a man
1-16     of upstanding principles and fair judgment; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Devoted to their family, Daniel and his wife,
1-18     Susie, were blessed with many children, grandchildren, and
1-19     great-grandchildren who were a comfort and joy to them
1-20     throughout their shared life; and
1-21           WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
 2-1     Daniel gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom,
 2-2     warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who
 2-3     knew him; he leaves memories that will be forever treasured by
 2-4     his friends and family; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-6     77th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family
 2-7     of Daniel Z. Rivas, Sr.:  his wife, Susie Rivas; his sons and
 2-8     daughters-in-law, Daniel Rivas, Jr., and Gracie Rivas, Joe Rivas
 2-9     and Amanda Rivas, and Andrew Rivas; his daughters and sons-in-law,
2-10     Linda Villafranca, Eva Garza-Fonseca and Joseph Fonseca, and
2-11     Debi Ullmann and Robert Ullmann; his 15 grandchildren and four
2-12     great-grandchildren; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
2-14     for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
2-15     Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
2-16     do so in memory of Daniel Z. Rivas.
