1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 399 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased 1-4 to welcome the students in the Gifted and Talented Program 1-5 at Wills Point Junior High School on their visit to the 1-6 State Capitol; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Wills Point Junior High is committed to giving a 1-8 rigorous and diverse educational experience to those students who 1-9 display a high aptitude for learning; students enrolled in the 1-10 Gifted and Talented Program must keep a high grade point average 1-11 and demonstrate an outstanding level of self-motivation and 1-12 maturity; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The program features an inventive and progressive 1-14 curriculum which endeavors to present students with a challenging 1-15 academic experience while also giving them opportunities to 1-16 explore real-world applications of the information they study in 1-17 class; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Their trip to the State Capitol is an example of 1-19 the type of rich learning experience Wills Point Junior High hopes 1-20 to give its gifted and talented students; their visit will allow 1-21 them to witness firsthand the state lawmaking process during the 1-22 77th Texas Legislature; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Knowing that the young persons enrolled in 2-2 Wills Point Junior High's gifted and talented program will one 2-3 day be leading our nation, the Texas Senate is delighted to have 2-4 these bright students visit the State Capitol; now, therefore, 2-5 be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-7 77th Legislature, hereby welcome the students of the Wills Point 2-8 Junior High Gifted and Talented Program to the Capitol and 2-9 encourage these young people to pursue leadership positions in 2-10 state and local government in the years to come; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-12 Wills Point Junior High gifted and talented students and their 2-13 teachers as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-14 Cain 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on March 6, 2001. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
