1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 404 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-4 welcoming the registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, 1-5 and nursing students who are visiting the State Capitol on 1-6 Nurse Day at the Capitol, March 7, 2001; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Over 20 professional nursing and vocational nursing 1-8 organizations are participating in this day as member organizations 1-9 of the Nursing Legislative Agenda Coalition; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The 125,000 registered nurses and 70,000 licensed 1-11 vocational nurses residing and practicing nursing in this state 1-12 are a critical factor in the health care received by the citizens 1-13 of this state in hospitals, nursing homes, and home health agencies 1-14 throughout Texas; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Nursing is a caring profession of great public value 1-16 and personal satisfaction that is highly valued by this state and 1-17 held in high esteem by the public as one of the most trusted 1-18 professions; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Nursing students dedicated to caring for people 1-20 represent the future of this honorable profession; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Texas has a shortage of nurses that is predicted 2-2 to worsen significantly over the next decade, and the Texas Senate 2-3 is being called upon to play a significant role in addressing 2-4 that shortage; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 77th Legislature, hereby recognize March 7, 2001, as Nurse Day 2-7 at the State Capitol; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for our 2-9 outstanding visitors as an expression of highest regard from the 2-10 Texas Senate. 2-11 Moncrief 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 President of the Senate 2-14 I hereby certify that the above 2-15 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-16 on March 7, 2001. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Secretary of the Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
