 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 406
 1-3           WHEREAS, An acclaimed youth organization, the 4-H Program
 1-4     is a nonformal educational program, and its members from
 1-5     Henderson County are truly a shining example of the success of
 1-6     this organization; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Offered by the Texas Agricultural Extension
 1-8     Service, the Texas 4-H Program endeavors to enable young people to
 1-9     acquire knowledge, develop life skills, and form attitudes that
1-10     allow them to become productive and contributing citizens; as
1-11     evidenced by the 4-H motto, "To make the best better," this
1-12     enduring organization challenges its members to constantly improve
1-13     themselves and their environment, ensuring a bright future for this
1-14     next generation of Texas leaders; and
1-15           WHEREAS, A green four-leaf clover with a white "H" on
1-16     each clover leaf, the 4-H emblem is a visual reminder of the group's
1-17     pledge, a promise to utilize head, heart, hands, and health for the
1-18     betterment of community and self; this civic-minded dedication is
1-19     evident in the many diverse and practical programs offered to 4-H
1-20     members, including lessons in cooking, raising animals, using
1-21     computers, and developing leadership skills, as well as projects
1-22     that help develop decision-making abilities, communication skills,
1-23     and a positive attitude; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, With approximately 300 members and 65 volunteers,
 2-2     the Henderson County 4-H Program is a flourishing branch of the
 2-3     organization; these noteworthy youth compete with their peers on
 2-4     the county, district, state, regional, and national levels, and
 2-5     they have won a significant number of awards while making numerous
 2-6     close friendships that will last a lifetime; and
 2-7           WHEREAS, The members of the 4-H Program of Henderson County
 2-8     are exceptional Texans committed to using their many talents to
 2-9     improve both their lives and the lives of their neighbors, and
2-10     it is a privilege to honor them at this time; now, therefore, be it
2-11           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-12     77th Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of the
2-13     Henderson County 4-H Program for their many achievements and extend
2-14     sincere best wishes for a memorable visit to the State Capitol; and,
2-15     be it further
2-16           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
2-17     prepared for these young Texans as an expression of high regard
2-18     by the Texas Senate.
