 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 408
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure
 1-4     in recognizing Cecil Mae Logan Blocker on the grand occasion of
 1-5     her 80th birthday, which was celebrated on March 4, 2001; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Cecil Mae Blocker is well known for her work as a
 1-7     leader in her community; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, compassion, and generosity,
 1-9     Mrs. Blocker gives willingly of her time to others; at the age of
1-10     80, she continues to serve as a volunteer every week at Pecan
1-11     Springs Elementary School and at the University Hills Library in
1-12     Austin; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mrs. Blocker is a devout Christian and attends
1-14     Holy Cross Catholic Church; she has been an active member of
1-15     the church choir for more than 20 years and is a member of the
1-16     Knights of Saint Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Cecil Mae was the devoted wife of William L. Blocker
1-18     for 52 years until he passed away in 1995; she is much beloved
1-19     by her family, her husband's family, and her extended family at
1-20     Holy Cross Catholic Church; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Cecil Mae Blocker lives her life to the fullest
 2-2     and is noted for her strength and courage; she learned how to
 2-3     drive at the age of 75 and is a pillar in her community; she is
 2-4     an exemplary lady, and her enthusiasm and dedication to helping
 2-5     her fellow citizens is an inspiration to all who know her; now,
 2-6     therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-8     77th Legislature, hereby commend Cecil Mae Logan Blocker on her
 2-9     exceptional achievements and her contributions to her community
2-10     and extend congratulations to her on the joyous occasion of her
2-11     80th birthday; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13     her as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
