1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 458 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Dickie Ingram 1-6 WHEREAS, Those who work in and around the Capitol Complex 1-7 are a close-knit community, and the untimely death of Dickie Ingram 1-8 on December 22, 1999, at the age of 49, was keenly felt by all who 1-9 came to know and respect this remarkable Texan; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mr. Ingram was born in Wellington on 1-11 September 20, 1950, to John and June Ingram, the eldest of three 1-12 sons; he attended Texas Tech University on a football scholarship 1-13 and earned his law degree from Baylor University Law School in 1-14 1974; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Subsequently admitted to the State Bar of Texas, 1-16 Mr. Ingram was a brilliant attorney and strategist; the general 1-17 counsel for the Texas Municipal League for four years, he served 1-18 as executive director of the Gulf Coast Conservation Association 1-19 before teaming with Jack Gullahorn for several years in private 1-20 practice and joining Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld in 1986; 1-21 Mr. Ingram cofounded the Polan Ingram Advocacy Group in 1992, and 2-1 throughout his career he was a familiar and welcome presence in the 2-2 State Capitol, where he could often be seen deep in conversation 2-3 sporting his trademark cigar; and 2-4 WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Ingram was an avid sportsman 2-5 and a leading conservationist; a member of the Texas Cutter Horse 2-6 Association and the Texas Cattle Raisers Association, he also 2-7 loved to fish, and his efforts to protect and preserve the natural 2-8 resources of this state brought him to the forefront of numerous 2-9 legislative issues and earned him the "Perry Bass Award" from the 2-10 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in September, 2000; and 2-11 WHEREAS, He married the former Maya Garcia on 2-12 November 30, 1990, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his 2-13 wife and children, Andrea, Cristina, Brittany, Paige, and 2-14 Barrett at the family's ranch in Lytton Springs; and 2-15 WHEREAS, Though his time on this earth was far too short, 2-16 Dickie Ingram lived life to the fullest, and he will be remembered 2-17 with affection and admiration by those who treasured his friendship 2-18 and counsel; now, therefore, be it 2-19 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-20 77th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Dickie Ingram 2-21 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: his 2-22 wife, Maya Ingram; his children, Andrea, Cristina, Brittany, 2-23 Paige, and Barrett Ingram; his parents, John and June Ingram; 2-24 his brothers, Tom and Harry Ingram; and his other relatives and 3-1 many friends; and, be it further 3-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be 3-3 prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from 3-4 the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it 3-5 do so in memory of Dickie Ingram. 3-6 Madla 3-7 Armbrister Gallegos Shapiro 3-8 Barrientos Harris Shapleigh 3-9 Bernsen Haywood Sibley 3-10 Bivins Jackson Staples 3-11 Brown Lindsay Truan 3-12 Cain Lucio Van de Putte 3-13 Carona Moncrief Wentworth 3-14 Duncan Nelson West 3-15 Ellis Ogden Whitmire 3-16 Fraser Zaffirini 3-17 Ratliff, President of the Senate 3-18 ______________________________________ 3-19 President of the Senate 3-20 I hereby certify that the above 3-21 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-22 on March 14, 2001, by a rising vote. 3-23 ______________________________________ 3-24 Secretary of the Senate 3-25 ______________________________________ 3-26 Member, Texas Senate
