 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 478
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 1-4     recognize Ola J. Reagan for her 50 years of outstanding service
 1-5     in the ministry; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, A former teacher in the Dallas public schools
 1-7     system, Ola Reagan is the Christian Education Director and the
 1-8     Minister of Music for East Gate Baptist Church; she is also the
 1-9     program coordinator for the church's Family Literacy Ministry
1-10     and the Drug Abuse Support Ministry; she is married to the church
1-11     pastor, Reverend H. D. Reagan; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Mrs. Reagan holds a master's degree from
1-13     Prairie View A&M University and a doctorate degree in religion
1-14     from Rialto Community Bible College; she has served as an
1-15     instructor at the D. Edwin Johnson Bible Institute; and
1-16           WHEREAS, She is an active member of the Gospel Music
1-17     Workshop of America and a member of the Texas Music Composers
1-18     Forum; she serves as a community volunteer for Goodwill Industries,
1-19     the Heart Fund, and the American Red Cross; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Well known for her musical expertise, Ola Reagan was
1-21     a 1997 Grammy nominee for her musical arrangement of "Wayfaring
1-22     Stranger," written for the James Blackwood Singers; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, An exceptionally gifted community leader,
 2-2     Mrs. Reagan was named Woman of the Year in 1989 and has received
 2-3     numerous Role Model Awards from educational institutions; she
 2-4     received the Minister's Wife Award in 1998 from the Dallas
 2-5     Metropolitan Club of the National Association of Business and
 2-6     Professional Women's Club, Incorporated; and
 2-7           WHEREAS, An exemplary lady who has distinguished herself in
 2-8     the ministry and in her work in the Dallas community, Ola Reagan
 2-9     is an invaluable asset to East Gate Baptist Church, and she
2-10     deserves recognition for her years of hard work and her many
2-11     accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
2-12           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-13     77th Legislature, hereby commend Ola J. Reagan on her superior
2-14     achievements and extend appreciation to her for her 50 years of
2-15     dedicated service; and, be it further
2-16           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-17     Mrs. Reagan as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
