 1-5                            Lawrence Glenn Roark
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 1-7     citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of a beloved community
 1-8     member, Lawrence Glenn Roark, who died March 6, 2001; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Born May 15, 1955, in Wichita Falls, Larry was a
1-10     1973 graduate of Reagan High School in Austin; always interested in
1-11     music, Larry graduated cum laude from North Texas State University
1-12     with a degree in music theory; and
1-13           WHEREAS, After completing his education, Larry served on the
1-14     staff of Texas Woman's University and played euphonium with the
1-15     Clyde Beatty-Cole Brothers Circus Band for several seasons; and
1-16           WHEREAS, After returning to Austin, Larry enjoyed taking part
1-17     in the city's music scene; he played with many local groups,
1-18     including the Austin Symphony, the Vascilating Discombobulators,
1-19     and the First Baptist Church voice and handbell choirs; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Larry was well known in the Austin community as a
1-21     musician and as a recurring host on KUT Radio's Overnight Show;
1-22     in 1989, Larry added businessman to his resume, founding Music
 2-1     of Spheres(TM), a successful Austin company which produces a
 2-2     superior quality of wind chimes; he was also a noted photographer,
 2-3     who regularly displayed his work; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, His friends and family will always remember Larry's
 2-5     passion for beauty and spirituality, which was expressed through
 2-6     his music and photography; a man of boundless energy and enthusiasm,
 2-7     Larry made a positive impact on the Austin community, and the
 2-8     State of Texas is truly fortunate to have counted him as a citizen;
 2-9     now, therefore, be it
2-10           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-11     77th Legislature, hereby send condolences to the family of
2-12     Larry Roark:  his wife, Sara Neal Eskew; his parents,
2-13     Dr. Glenn and Dorotha Roark; his sisters and brothers-in-law,
2-14     Carol Roark and Lon Burnam, and Linda Roark and Ford Turner; and
2-15     his six nieces and nephews; and, be it further
2-16           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-17     his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
2-18     Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
2-19     do so in memory of Lawrence Glenn Roark.
