1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 618 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-4 welcoming Kandace Krueger, Miss USA, who is coming to the 1-5 State Capitol on April 3, 2001; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Kandace represented Austin when she competed for and 1-7 won the title of Miss Texas USA on July 17, 2000, in Lubbock, Texas; 1-8 on March 2, 2001, she competed against delegates from 49 other 1-9 states and the District of Columbia to become Miss USA; and 1-10 WHEREAS, In the 50-year history of the Miss USA Pageant, a 1-11 young woman from Texas has captured the winning spot eight times 1-12 when no other state has had more than five winners in that time; 1-13 on May 11, 2001, Miss Krueger will represent the United States 1-14 at the Miss Universe Pageant which will be televised from 1-15 Puerto Rico; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Graceful and poised, Miss Krueger is five feet, 1-17 11 inches tall with blonde hair and green eyes; she is a senior 1-18 journalism major at Texas A&M University; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Calling herself a sports fanatic, Miss USA is a 1-20 big fan of the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Cowboys, and 1-21 Texas A&M University; Kandace plans to become a sports broadcaster 1-22 after graduation; and 2-1 WHEREAS, In her role as Miss USA, Miss Krueger has been a 2-2 goodwill ambassador for her country; she works to educate young 2-3 women about the seriousness of breast and ovarian cancers, raising 2-4 funds for the Carol M.
