1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 669 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-4 in recognizing Kate Klinkerman, who has achieved national 1-5 recognition for her outstanding volunteer service as a recipient 1-6 of the 2001 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Presented by the National Association of Secondary 1-8 School Principals and The Prudential Insurance Company of America, 1-9 this prestigious award pays tribute to young volunteers across 1-10 America who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to serving 1-11 their communities; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Highly respected by her classmates and teachers, 1-13 Kate consistently manifests concern for others and takes an 1-14 avid interest in the betterment of her school and community; the 1-15 resourceful and hardworking freshman at Memorial High School in 1-16 Victoria organized a recycling program entitled "Don't Be Crude" 1-17 three years ago and today more than 2,000 gallons of crude oil 1-18 and hydraulic fluid are recycled every month; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The exemplary young woman with a promising future 1-20 has exhibited an overwhelming desire to use her talents and her 2-1 resources to help protect the environment, and in so doing she has 2-2 brought honor to herself, her family, and her community; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Kate Klinkerman has made lasting contributions 2-4 through her generosity of spirit, and her endeavor should be an 2-5 inspiration for students of all ages and a source of pride for 2-6 all Texans; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 77th Legislature, hereby commend Kate Klinkerman for being 2-9 named a State Honoree in the sixth annual Prudential Spirit 2-10 of Community Awards program; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-12 for Kate as a token of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-13 Armbrister 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 President of the Senate 2-16 I hereby certify that the above 2-17 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-18 on April 5, 2001. 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Secretary of the Senate 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 Member, Texas Senate
