1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 670 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-4 in recognizing Samantha Brooks of Sugar Land, who has achieved 1-5 national recognition for her exemplary volunteer service as a 1-6 recipient of the 2001 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Presented by the National Association of Secondary 1-8 School Principals and The Prudential Insurance Company of America, 1-9 this prestigious award pays tribute to young volunteers across 1-10 America who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to serving 1-11 their communities; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Highly respected by her classmates and teachers, 1-13 Samantha consistently manifests concern for others and takes an 1-14 avid interest in the betterment of her school and community; the 1-15 resourceful and hardworking seventh grader at First Colony Middle 1-16 School aspires to be a veterinarian and organized an awareness 1-17 project for abandoned and neglected animals; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The outstanding young woman with a promising future 1-19 has exhibited an overwhelming desire to use her talents and her 1-20 resources to serve others, and in so doing she has brought honor 2-1 to herself, her family, and her community; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Samantha Brooks has made lasting contributions 2-3 through her generosity of spirit, and her endeavor should be 2-4 an inspiration for students of all ages and a source of pride 2-5 for all Texans; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-7 77th Legislature, hereby commend Samantha Brooks for being 2-8 awarded a Distinguished Finalist medallion in the sixth 2-9 annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program; and, 2-10 be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-12 for Samantha as a token of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-13 Armbrister 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 President of the Senate 2-16 I hereby certify that the above 2-17 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-18 on April 5, 2001. 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Secretary of the Senate 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 Member, Texas Senate
