1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 679 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-4 in recognizing Daniel Ben-Nun of Austin, who has achieved 1-5 national recognition for his exemplary volunteer service as a 1-6 recipient of the 2001 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Presented by the National Association of Secondary 1-8 School Principals and The Prudential Insurance Company of America, 1-9 this prestigious award pays tribute to young volunteers across 1-10 America who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to serving 1-11 their communities; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Highly respected by his classmates and teachers, 1-13 Daniel consistently manifests concern for others and takes an 1-14 avid interest in the betterment of his school and community; the 1-15 resourceful and hardworking senior at McCallum High School created 1-16 a peer mentoring program that matches upperclassmen with incoming 1-17 freshmen to help lower the drop-out rate among at-risk students; 1-18 and 1-19 WHEREAS, The outstanding young man with a promising future 1-20 has exhibited an overwhelming desire to use his talents and his 2-1 resources to serve others, and in so doing he has brought honor 2-2 to himself, his family, and his community; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Daniel Ben-Nun has made lasting contributions 2-4 through his generosity of spirit, and his endeavor should be 2-5 an inspiration for students of all ages and a source of pride 2-6 for all Texans; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 77th Legislature, hereby commend Daniel Ben-Nun for being 2-9 awarded a Distinguished Finalist medallion in the sixth 2-10 annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program; and, 2-11 be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-13 Daniel as a token of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-14 Barrientos 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on April 5, 2001. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
