1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 723 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-4 recognizing Anna M. Tinsley of Austin, who is leaving the 1-5 Scripps Howard Austin Bureau, formerly the Harte-Hanks Austin 1-6 Bureau, to join the staff of the Fort Worth Star Telegram to 1-7 cover city hall; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The Scripps Howard Austin Bureau includes the 1-9 Corpus Christi Caller-Times, the Abilene Reporter News, the 1-10 San Angelo Standard Times, and the Wichita Falls Times Record 1-11 News; and 1-12 WHEREAS, This talented young woman has been covering the 1-13 Texas Legislature since February, 1995; stories about state 1-14 agencies have been on her beat, as well as stories of local 1-15 and Texas interest to be published in the four Texas newspapers 1-16 and sent to the Scripps Howard national wire service; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Anna Tinsley is a dedicated journalist who became 1-18 a reporter after she graduated from Baylor University with a 1-19 bachelor of arts degree in 1991; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Anna immediately went to work for the Odessa 1-21 American as a police and courts reporter and stayed until 1993; 2-1 her superior writing was rewarded with an advancement, working 2-2 for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times as a regional reporter and 2-3 weekly columnist; and 2-4 WHEREAS, A journalist of great personal integrity, 2-5 Anna Tinsley has received numerous accolades for her writing, 2-6 including a first place award for science and health from the 2-7 National Federation of Press Women in 2000 and a 2000 Texas 2-8 Professional Communicators Sweepstakes award; in 1999, she 2-9 was recognized with a first place award in news writing from 2-10 the American Cancer Society and an honorable mention award 2-11 for political writing; in 1994 she received the Press Club of 2-12 Dallas Award of Excellence for analysis of the safety system in 2-13 a Corpus Christi refinery explosion; and 2-14 WHEREAS, Although her many Capitol friends will miss Anna, 2-15 they know she will continue to be an asset to the field of 2-16 journalism; now, therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-18 77th Legislature, hereby commend Anna M.
