 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 725
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-4     recognize the Wesley Community Center of Houston on the grand
 1-5     occasion of its Fifth Champions for Children Luncheon; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, On Thursday, April 26, 2001, friends and
 1-7     dignitaries are gathering to demonstrate their support of the
 1-8     outstanding work the center renders on behalf of the citizens
 1-9     of Houston; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Television personality Minerva Perez is presiding
1-11     over the luncheon and introducing the center's special guest
1-12     Van Chancellor, coach of the Women's National Basketball
1-13     Association four-time champion Houston Comets; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Giving of one's time and energy to assist Wesley
1-15     Community Center in its efforts to enrich and improve the lives
1-16     of those it serves is a most generous act of kindness; the
1-17     benefactors and luncheon attendees are indeed playing a vital
1-18     role in the success of this highly regarded community center;
1-19     now, therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-1     77th Legislature, hereby commend the Wesley Community Center
 2-2     on its humanitarian endeavors and extend best wishes for a most
 2-3     successful Champions for Children Luncheon; and, be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 2-5     the center as a token of high regard from the Texas Senate.
