1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 739 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-4 recognizing Mrs. Freddye Carter, an outstanding citizen of our 1-5 state, for her contributions to the Texas Northeast Jurisdiction 1-6 of Church of God in Christ, Incorporated; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Born in Corpus Christi, Mrs. Carter graduated 1-8 magna cum laude from Paul Quinn College and received a master's 1-9 degree in music education from The University of Texas at Austin; 1-10 she is married to Superintendent Jesse L. Carter, and they have 1-11 four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Carter began her full-time ministry after 1-13 earning her Evangelist Missionary License in 1972; she serves as 1-14 general secretary and state supervisor of women for the Texas 1-15 Northeast Jurisdiction of Church of God in Christ and formerly 1-16 served as president of the Texas Northeast Pastors' and Ministers' 1-17 Wives Circle and district missionary of the Mexia-East District; 1-18 and 1-19 WHEREAS, Mrs. Carter served on the Jurisdictional Bishop's 1-20 cabinet as a member of the Program Committee and was assistant 1-21 manager of the 1996 campaign to re-elect Bishop J. Neaul Haynes; 1-22 she was named chairperson of the Executive Committee for the Texas 2-1 North Department of Women in 1997 and was appointed supervisor of 2-2 the Texas Northeast Department of Women in 1998; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Mrs. Carter is being honored for her dedication, 2-4 leadership, and outstanding service to the Church of God in Christ, 2-5 Incorporated, on Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at the Renaissance Hotel 2-6 in Dallas; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 77th Legislature, hereby commend Mrs. Freddye Carter on 2-9 her invaluable contributions to the Church of God in Christ, 2-10 Incorporated, and extend to her best wishes for the future; 2-11 and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-13 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-14 West 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on April 11, 2001. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
